COVID-19: A Color Canvas of Inequality

This year’s Schomburg Symposium tackled the inequalities in the health system affecting Black and brown communities, as highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the deaths of over 350,000 people in the US since December 2020, testing our health and economic system that supports our localities. Highlighting the stark inequities in health provided to the Black and Brown communities.

This year’s symposium addresses specifically the impact of COVID-19 on African descent communities that are the most affected. In Philadelphia, 34% of cases, the highest number, are Black.  

The symposium, COVID-19: A Color Canvas of Inequality, took place on February 27. The virtual symposium brought scholars and historians to discuss problems and present solutions with your input.
