Carlos A. Gil: Apparent Spaces Reception
October 2 @ 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Taller Puertorriqueño is proud to present the photo assemblages of Carlos A. Gil in his first one-person show at Taller’s Lorenzo Homar Gallery. Intervening in the pictorial, and working in collage, assemblage, photography, and digital manipulation, Gil creates haunting imagery based on nature and geometry. Gil (b. Caracas, Ven., 1943) lives in Philadelphia and is a master printmaker and photographer. In his recent work, Gil explores our connection to our environment and how memory “inhabits” us. Apparent Spaces reflects on the artist’s work of the last five years. Gil digitally and manually transforms and reassembles his photographic images, testing the limits of representation and abstraction. This exhibition brings appreciation to a gifted and nuanced artist who has been steadily creating noteworthy work in Philadelphia for years
Mask must be worn in the gallery and around Taller and social distancing observed.
The reception will take place underneath a tent in Taller’s courtyard. Admittance to the gallery will be regulated. Free parking is available. Entrance on Huntingdon St.
