Afro Latinx Struggles: Pushing Boundaries through Engagement
February 29, 2020 @ 9:30 am – 5:00 pm
Looking ahead at the coming decade, this year’s Schomburg Symposium underscores the central role of Arturo Schomburg’s in Afro and Latinx activism. This symposium looks at how Shomburg’s scholarship mobilized new generations into challenging historical interpretations of perceived historical facts and understandings, especially as it relates to the Afro and Latinx community.
Now in its 24th year, The Arturo A. Schomburg Symposium is a yearly event that explores the intricate and complex relationship of the African Diaspora influences, within Latinx culture abroad and in the US. Through formal presentations, small group discussions, and the diverse audience participants engage in dialogues that promote an increased understanding of our shared traditions and influences.
