February 7 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pmFree
On view from Feb 7 – April 25, 2020
With new and never before seen work, Henry Bermudez, a Venezuelan artist has his first solo show at Taller. Bermudez, whose work represented Venezuela in the 1986 Venice Biennale, creates work that channels our id and questions rationality. Working with astonishing discipline, Bermudez intricate paper cut-outs, line art, and paintings reference the rainforests of Central and South America. Populated with fantastical creatures and fauna, his work depicts the savagery of the mind.
Since 2003, Henry Bermudez has been a Philadelphia based artist. Besides being a painter, he is muralist and art instructor at Fleisher and Career Academy Developing Institute (CADI). He is also co-director of House Gallery1816 in Fishtown where he maintains an active studio and exhibition schedule.
