DESCRIPTION:Join us on March 9th for an evening filled with delicious food\, engaging conversations\, and the opportunity to make new connections. Rice is Everything\, the closing event for Dorcas Tang’s Los Paisanos del Puerto at Taller Puertorriqueño. At the heart of this event is the profound role of rice\, tracing its origins from Asia and evolving into a culinary cornerstone across Latin America. \n\n\n\nThis closing celebration encapsulates the essence of Tang’s exhibition\, Los Paisanos del Puerto (2018 – ongoing)\, which intricately explores the stories of the Chinese diaspora in Puntarenas\, Costa Rica. The exhibition presents a kaleidoscopic view of the community through portraits\, through captivating portraits\, vernacular photo albums\, archival state images\, and compelling oral interviews. \n\n\n\nThe evening will feature an engaging presentation and conversation with Chef Yun Fuentes\, offering insights into the cultural significance of food within communities undergoing change. Guided tours of the exhibition will be available in English\, Spanish\, and Mandarin.
