Join the Three Kings and Queens as they generously distribute free toys to the children in our community.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis year\, our festivities extend beyond toy distribution. Dive into the enchanting world of La Noche Before Three Kings Day with author and Philly native\, Sheila Colón-Bagley\, during a festive Spanglish storytime. Children can also participate in arts and crafts\, all while enjoying light refreshments.  \n\n\n\nAbout the Book:\n\n\n\nIt’s almost Three Kings Day\, and while the grownups prepare a large meal\, the kids prepare their shoe boxes for los Reyes to arrive later that night. Will they stay up late enough to wish the Kings a Feliz Día de los Reyes? Or will the magic pass them by? Sing along with a great big familia as they fill up their platos\, play their favorite juegos\, and wait for the three kings and regalitos to arrive.  This enchanting celebration of a beloved holiday is brought to life through lively rhyming dual-lingual text by Sheila Colón-Bagley with festive illustrations from Alejandro Mesa. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis holiday season\, celebrate with your family—receive a special gift\, engage in a joyous storytime\, partake in arts and crafts\, and meet the Kings and Queens in a celebration that wraps up the holiday season with warmth and cheer! \n\n\n\nMake sure to secure your spot by registering before the deadline. This free event requires prior registration\, as toys are limited. Bring grass or a drawing for the kings and queens art collection! \n\n\n\nKids who are signed up will receive one (1) toy per kid. Known for her intricate Mural designs and profound narratives\, Casañas’ work has captivated audiences and sparked global conversations. This event is free and open to the entire family\, let us know you’re coming by registering below. \n\n\n\nBetsy Z Casañas (b. 1974 in Philadelphia\, PA)\, based in Philadelphia and Puerto Rico\, is a Visual and Public Artist\, an educator\, a community activist\, and an organizer. She is the director of A Seed on Diamond Gallery (closed in 2020) and founder of Semilla Arts LLC\, a grassroots organization that uses art for social change. Casañas has 29 years of experience in the arts and has created over 70 murals worldwide. In 2018\, Casañas was featured in the Robb Report as one of the “5 Women Changing the Face of Street Art Around the Globe”. Her work is known for its use of pattern and color and the dignity and humanity of her depictions of people in marginalized communities.  \n\n\n\nCreating safe spaces has been a vital part of her work. As a Latina artist working in communities of color worldwide\, she understands the importance of the people living in these communities seeing themselves reflected in the artwork and the leadership of their places. She believes that artists must reflect on the times they are living in and highlight the people’s stories to change the narrative that has been created for us. Known for their dynamic and powerful artistic expressions\, they celebrate and uplift the voices of the Latinx community through music and dance. \n\n\n\nSilk Screening and Live Banner Painting with Juntos \n\n\n\nWe’ll also be featuring a hands-on art session where you can participate in silk screening and live banner painting with our compas from Juntos\, a community-led\, Latine immigrant organization in South Philadelphia fighting for our human rights as workers\, parents\, youth\, and immigrants. \n\n\n\nWith all that we’re up against\, gathering together to chismear\, to celebrate\, and to stand strong is essential. We’re ready to get real about what’s ahead in November\, highlight the organizing power we’re building at the local level\, and have a good time while we’re at it.
