Tours and Workshops

Taller offers guided neighborhood tours, gallery tours, hands-on art workshops, and themed lectures to school, university, and community groups on site at our El Corazón Cultural Center. These programs emphasize the vibrant and living traditions of Latino and Puerto Rican art, as well as Taller’s history and the role it plays in our local community.

Please tell us in what language you want the tour. It could be in either English, Spanish, or both.
There are three different packages you can choose from, and we can customize any of the of them. The personalized tour and workshop packages can be presentations or workshops by exhibition artist(s), tailored Latino studies workshops, and dance and music workshops. Tour groups get a 10% discount at our gift shop.
  • PACKAGE 1) Introduction to Taller and * gallery tour. An introduction to Taller’s history and mission, a guided tour of the current gallery exhibitions, and a presentation about the area’s Puerto Rican/Latino community.
    • Maximum number of persons per group, about 40
    • Duration is approximately 45 min.
    • Cost: $5 per person
  • PACKAGE 2) Gallery and neighborhood tour of Fairhill. Introduction to Taller’s history and mission, a guided tour of the current gallery exhibition(s), and a presentation about the area’s Puerto Rican/Latino community, including a guided walking tour of the neighborhood and its murals.
    • Maximum number of persons per group, about 40
    • Duration is approximately 60 min.
    • Cost: $9 per person
  • PACKAGE 3) Gallery and tour of Fairhill, and workshop. An introduction to Taller’s history and mission, a guided tour of the current gallery exhibitions and the Latino Fairhill neighborhood. In the Fairhill introduce you to the area’s Puerto Rican/Latino community and the murals, and discuss Latino history in Philadelphia and the United States. Choose a workshop in Puerto Rican Vejigante (Carnival) mask making (perfect for ages 12 and younger), T-shirt art (perfect for ages 17 and younger), or Latin dance (perfect for ages 17 and younger). We currently also offering a jewelry making workshop for teens and adults.

    • Duration is approximately 90 min.
    • Cost: $17 per person

*We have special programs with the artists of Extension or Communication (4/6 – 5/5/17)

  • During their exhibition period, the artists will host an open discussion focusing on prominent themes of the Extension or Communication project. Focusing on the photography, drawing, video and archival material included in the exhibition, the group aims to illuminate topics including the relationship between art and civics, food sovereignty, alternative educational systems, American colonial impact, climate change, and grassroots political action.

We will send you an invoice requesting a nonrefundable deposit of $50 to hold your reservation. The deposit will be applied to the final bill. *We will only charge for the persons who will come and participate.
