Tours & Workshops
Taller offers guided neighborhood tours, gallery tours, and hands-on art workshops to school, university, and community groups on-site at our El Corazón Cultural Center. These programs emphasize the vibrant and living traditions of Latinx and Puerto Rican art and Taller’s history and the role it plays in its community. Tours and workshops are offered in both English and Spanish.
Tour Packages
PACKAGE 1
Introduction to Taller and gallery tour.
An introduction to Taller’s history and mission, a guided tour of the current gallery exhibitions, and a presentation about the area’s Puerto Rican/Latino community.

- Duration: approximately 45 min.
- Cost: $5 per person
PACKAGE 2
Gallery and neighborhood tour of Fairhill
Introduction to Taller’s history and mission, a guided tour of the current gallery exhibition(s), and a presentation about the area’s Puerto Rican/Latinx community, including a guided walking tour of the neighborhood and its murals.
- Maximum Participants: 40
- Duration: approximately 90 min.
- Cost: $9 per person
PACKAGE 3
Gallery and tour of Fairhill, and workshop
An introduction to Taller’s history and mission, a guided tour of the current gallery exhibitions and the Latino Fairhill neighborhood. In the Fairhill introduce you to the area’s Puerto Rican/Latino community and the murals, and discuss Latino history in Philadelphia and the United States. Choose a basic workshop in Puerto Rican Vejigante (Carnival) mask making (ages 12 and younger), jewelry making (teens and adults), Latin dance (teens and adults). Or a deluxe workshop for screen printing (teens and adults) or relief linoleum printing (teens and adults).

Workshops
We offer basic and deluxe workshops for groups of people of various ages to participate in learning a new art practice. Taught by experienced Taller staff our guests will be guided through an engaging and fun class.
Basic Workshops
VEJIGANTE MASK-MAKING:
Participants will decorate their own custom paper vejigante mask.
- Duration: approximately 2 to 2 and a half hours
- Cost: $8 per student
- Maximum participants: 30
- Age Range: Ideal for ages 12 and younger
Jewelry Making:
Participants will create their own custom jewelry to wear.
- Duration: approximately 2 to 2 and a half hours
- Cost: $8 per student
- Maximum participants: 30
- Age Range: Ideal for teens & adults
LATIN DANCE:
Participants will learn some latin dance moves they can use to light up the dance floor.
- Duration: approximately 2 to 2 and a half hours
- Cost: $8 per student
- Maximum participants: 40
- Age Range: Ideal for teens & adults
Deluxe Workshops
Tote Bag Screen printing:
Participants will learn the basics of screen printing from how to expose a screen, preparing a screen to print, and printing their custom design on a tote bag.
- Preparation: Participants must provide simple one-color designs within specific parameters prior to workshop date.
- Duration: approximately 3 to 3 and a half hours.
- Cost: $15 per person
- Maximum Participants: 12
- Age Range: Ideal for teens and adults
Relief Linoleum Printing:
Participants will learn the basics of relief printing from familiarizing themselves with carving techniques, creating their own original print design, transferring their design on to their block, preparing to print, and finally printing an edition of custom prints.
- Duration: approximately 3 to 3 and a half hours.
- Cost: $15 per person
- Maximum Participants: 15
- Age Range: Ideal for teens and adults
REQUEST a Tour or Workshop
To request a visit, complete the inquiry form below. Once the form is submitted, we will reach out to coordinate given the provided dates and our calendar. Once a date is decided we will send an invoice requesting a nonrefundable fee to hold your reservation. We will apply the cost to the final bill. Once the tour minimums are covered, we only charge for those that are in attendance.
