Exploratory Minds: CEP & YAP

On view From may 26, 2023 - july 22, 2023

Taller Puertorriqueño strives to provide access to art education and to nurture creativity in our young kids and youth. Our goal is to support the younger generation of artists by providing them a space where they can explore various mediums, forms of art making, and themes in order to learn how to develop their own art process. This exhibition is a culmination of all the artwork created by the students in our Cultural Exploration Program, Youth Artist Program and the Photography Without Borders Program.

PHOTOGRAPHY WITHOUT BORDERS:

Photography Without Borders inspires youth through photography allowing them to tell their stories to a wider audience. Our mission is to promote creativity and provide quality media arts opportunities to middle and high school students in Philadelphia.

We do this by creating an atmosphere of safety and inclusiveness where we challenge students to speak about their experience, encourage collaboration and build confidence so their unique voices can be heard. At Taller Puertorriqueño, we have the privilege of serving older students as well, teaching them skills as entrepreneurs and freelance artists, which has led to paying opportunities. This body of work represents a collection our students have been shooting this past year, their subject matter a reflection of the way they see themselves and the world around them.
