Opened in May of 2014
Conociéndote (Getting to Know You): Bridging the Audience Divide is Tallerâs 2013 John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s Knight Arts Challenge award-winning project, bridging Philadelphiaâs audience divide with events and exhibitions in May, July, and September of 2014. The events connect the work of five organizations in North Philadelphia around three commissioned, month-long, socially conscious outdoor art installations by artists Nancy Salame & Patricia Cazorla, José Ortiz Pagán, and Andria Morales & Maya Escobar. The commissioned work addresses the history of women in the textile industry of the area, the hopes and dreams of the migrant Latino community, and the commercial images being created as they look towards the future. The partner organizations are Congreso de Latinos Unidos, HACE, RaÃces Culturales Latinoamericanas, and a Seed on Diamond Gallery. For the May and July receptions, a trolley will transport the public between sites.
A performance will close each event at 8:30 p.m.
