Ceramic artist Roberto Lugo presents the work that was created in Taller's gallery over the summer.   BORICUA, BARRIO, BARRO (Puerto Rican, Neighborhood, Clay)  bring Lugo's practice in contact with the people of North Philadelphia in his first solo exhibition at Taller.  The show is  Lugo's homecoming show that pays homage to the creativity and resourcefulness of his community with new work. Jurakán: Nation in Resistance

Join us for a screening of “Jurakán”, which documents the historical struggle of Puerto Rico— a Caribbean nation that refuses to disappear. This film won best documentary at the Rincón International Film Festival, and played in 11 universities around Puerto Rico between April and May. After watching the film one viewer claimed, "It helped me understand myself as a puertorriqueña". We are now proud to present "Jurakán" to Boricuan Diaspora here in Philadelphia.
